Chinese-exclusive Pokémon cards: the chase cards you can’t get in English
Most cards in a Simplified Chinese Pokémon set reuse the same artwork as the English and Japanese versions. A few don’t. Each Chinese set usually carries one or two cards drawn only for mainland China, and the whole Gem Pack series exists nowhere else. Those cards are the reason collectors seek out Chinese product, and why it opens so well on stream.

Four Pikachu, one in each volume of 151
China released its version of the 151 set in four volumes during 2025: Journey, Hope, Surprise and Gathering. Each volume contains one Pikachu art rare by the artist Oswaldo KATO, numbered 170 to 173, and none of the four was printed in any other language. Card 172, with Gengar behind Pikachu, is the most valuable of the four. Collectors who want all four have to open all four volumes.
Gem Packs: a format only China gets
Gem Packs (set codes CBB1C onwards) have no English or Japanese equivalent. Every pack holds 4 cards and every card is holo, and each volume has its own exclusive illustrations: Eeveelutions in Vol.2, a Gengar and Cubone night theme in Vol.3. See how Gem Pack boxes compare with jumbo and slim boxes.
Special Art Rares drawn for China
The Scarlet & Violet-era Chinese sets (CSV codes) usually include a Special Art Rare with artwork made for China. The Maushold ex in CSV4C Reward Round is currently the most valuable card in that set.
The rarest Chinese card: Mew ex promo

The Mew ex promo 003/SV-P was never sold. China’s official player programme gave it away by lottery at events in 2025, and only 1,510 copies exist. PSA 10 copies sold for US$40,100–49,900 in August–September 2026 (PriceCharting). It isn’t in any product we sell. We include it because it shows how seriously collectors now take Chinese cards.
Telling your buyers
- Name the chase cards in your listings and streams. Buyers search for them by name and number, such as “Pikachu 172 Chinese”.
- Be clear that chase cards are rare pulls. Most boxes contain none, and prices change.
- Say the product is Simplified Chinese (mainland China). Traditional Chinese product, made for Taiwan and Hong Kong, does not contain these cards.
Some background
The Simplified Chinese Pokémon TCG launched in mainland China in October 2022. PSA, CGC and Beckett all grade Simplified Chinese cards, and PSA lists them in its population reports. For the basics of stocking Chinese sealed, read our wholesale buyer’s guide.
